When you think of PING clubs, their irons and drivers may come to mind, but not necessarily the wedges that they have produced in years gone by. The PING Glide Forged Pro wedge may change that.

Wedge customization is an important development in golf that PING are aiming to pursue with their Glide Forged Pro wedge.

All you need to know: Best Golf Wedges

Alex from GolfMagic took the PING Glide Forged Pro wedge down to Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate to see how it performed.

PING Glide Forged Pro wedge - Key Features

PING have promised that the Glide Forged Pro wedge will produce a lot of spin and it comes with a new quality of turf interaction around the greens and in the sand.

When you think of custom fitting clubs, you would usually associate this process with iron sets and drivers, but this wedge is also available for many different options in customization.

It's available from 50 degrees to 62 degrees and it has two main grinds: the S Grind and the T Grind. In total, there are eight grind options, three soles and numerous options in bounce.

Player Level

With its small head, the PING Glide Forged Pro wedge may be suited to players with a low handicap and more experience, however it is a versatile club.

PING Glide Forged Pro wedge - Performance and Forgiveness

The Glide Forged Pro wedge may feel heavy in your hands, but this can help you to produce a steady stroke when chipping around the green.

It is a nice and steady wedge that produces a nice, low flight and a lot of spin when landing on the green from 50 yards to 100 yards.

This wedge instils confidence when you are chipping and approaching the green, which should contribute to an improvement in your wedge play.

Should you buy the PING Glide Forged Pro wedge?

The PING Glide Forged Pro wedge is not for every golfer due to its small head. It may suit players who are more confident of finding the middle of the clubface.

The overall feel and performance of the club exceeded expectations. It performed well for Alex, as you can see with his shot dispersion in our review.

Once you take your first hit with this club, you'll definitely want to put it straight in your bag.
