Need To Know
The Powakaddy Touch at the very least is pushing boundaries, while at the very best is a revolutionary product in the electric trolley market.
A sliding handle controls the speed of the trolley, meaning it changes speed as you walk. No button bashing or dial twirling, here.
But does it work as it should? Is it worth the price tag? We find out.
As you would expect from Powakaddy, this is a beautiful product. The black, white and yellow colour scheme was to our taste, and it has a sleek, luxurious overall aesthetic.
You know this is a premium product.
The sliding handle is the Powakaddy Touch’s key feature, and it works well. It did take me a round to get used to the system, as at first I was pushing it too hard, which caused the trolley to dart off.
However, once I got the hang of it, I was gliding down the fairways with ease, almost without noticing I was pushing a large electric trolley, and full cart bag in front of me.
Whatever terrain I was traversing, or gradient, I did not have to break stride.
Compared to other trolleys it's very quiet, no matter what speed you ramp it up to.
At top speed, the trolley will be able to keep pace with even the fastest walker, and to bring it to a halt, all users need to do is pull back on the handle – simple.
And that word is an apt description of the trolley as a hole. It's incredibly simple to use.
The battery is extremely thin – the thinnest on the market in fact. This makes it much easier to transport compared to its cumbersome contemporaries.
Fitting the lithium battery is also easy, thanks to the Plug ‘n’ Play system. There are no wires to attach, which makes slotting it in and detaching it a simple exercise.
The wheels can be taken off and fitted with ease, and also are able to freewheel, just in case you run out of battery out on the course. This is unlikely, however, as the battery got us through two rounds, and a couple practice sessions, without needing needing to be plugged in.
To charge, it’s as simple as you would expect – just plug the battery into the wall, and the light will change from red to green when it is fully juiced.
Importantly, the Powakaddy is incredibly simple to assemble and collapse. With a push and a pull, golfers will have the trolley erected and ready to go – it literally takes seconds. I was shown once how to do it, and was then able to assemble the product with no issues on my first attempt.
There are added bells and whistles, such as a USB charger intergrated into the handle, a bungee strap with integrated anti-pinch handles, a bag lock system and front wheel adjuster.
If you want to have the complete look, customers can opt from the Powakaddy cart bag range. The bags are of top quality, and look great strapped into the Touch.
The trolley comes with a two-year warranty.
The Powakaddy Touch performs as a premium electric trolley – with the added extra of the moving handle which alters the speed of the trolley. The system works well, and is simple to use, making manually changing the speed a thing of the past.
It’s simple to assemble and collapse, and has a host of added extras. You are paying a premium price, but for your money you get a premium product.
