Luke Donald has been urged to pick Sweden's Ludvig Aberg as one of his six captain's picks in the European Ryder Cup team on Monday.

Donald will make his six picks following the conclusion of this week's Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland on the DP World Tour.

Aberg, 23, has reeled off some fairly solid results this season but he has only managed to achieve one top-10 on the PGA Tour

That came with T4 at the John Deere Classic in early July.

The World No.200 is, however, in solid position after the first round of the European Masters thanks to a 6-under 64.

This follows off the back a pleasing T4 at last week's Czech Masters.

Donald has already confirmed in various interviews this season that he is a big admirer of Aberg's game.

As a result, the bookies have installed him as a heavy odds-on shot to earn a debut in the European Ryder Cup team.

Donald has even drawn comparisons in Aberg's game with Rory McIlroy.

Sky Sports Golf's Nick Dougherty recently spoke of a conversation he had with Donald about the talented Swede.

"He told me there have only been a few [players] that he’s played with for the very first time that have the ‘wow’ factor," said Doughtery.

"One of them is Rory. That was back in 2008 at the Dunhill Links."

PGA Tour player and former BMW PGA champion Byeong Hun An is certainly in agreement, too.

As a result of recent performances on the DP World Tour, the 2015 BMW PGA champion believes Aberg has done more than enough already to warrant a place on Donald's team.

An tweeted:

"Aberg for Ryder cup is a no brainer."

The South Korean then added:

"He hasn’t won anything but his game looks solid. Pretty decent all around. I don’t see anyone better than him for the last spot."

GolfMagic took a closer look at how the European Ryder Cup team is shaping up following the first round action at the European Masters.
