DP World Tour makes Patrick Reed announcement ahead of South African Open
DP World Tour confirms Patrick Reed has already won the International Swing with two events to play in South Africa.
Patrick Reed has officially won the 2026 International Swing on the DP World Tour after building an unassailable lead with two events still to play.
The American holds a commanding 1,025-point advantage in the Swing standings, with a maximum of 1,000 points still available from the Investec South African Open Championship and next week’s Joburg Open. As a result, Reed cannot be caught in the second of five Global Swings on the Race to Dubai schedule.
Reed’s dominance has been built on a sensational run of form across the Middle East. After opening his campaign with a tied-26th finish at the Dubai Invitational, the 35-year-old quickly found top gear.
He claimed victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, finished runner-up at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, and then secured another win at the Qatar Masters.
That remarkable consistency across the first four events of the Swing has propelled Reed back inside the top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in five years, underlining the scale of his resurgence.
By winning the International Swing, Reed secures qualification for all of the Back 9 events — the second phase of the Race to Dubai — and earns a $200,000 bonus.
He also strengthens his position at the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World.
An Honorary Life Member of the DP World Tour since 2019, Reed has committed to a full-time schedule on the circuit in 2026.
His decision comes after leaving LIV Golf last month, with the American set to return to the PGA Tour once his suspension officially ends in August.
Until then, he is maximising his opportunities on the DP World Tour — and reaping the rewards in both prize money and world ranking points.
Reed is making his South African debut this week at the Investec South African Open and will also tee it up at the following week's Joburg Open as he looks to extend his Race to Dubai lead.
The former Masters champion has made no secret of his ambition to win the Race to Dubai and end Rory McIlroy’s recent dominance.
McIlroy is aiming for a fifth consecutive Race to Dubai title, which would move him alongside Colin Montgomerie on a record eight Order of Merit crowns.
But for now, the momentum firmly belongs to Reed.
