LIV Golf star headed back to St Andrews for first time since 2022 Open
Former Open champion Cameron Smith will return to St Andrews for the first time since lifting the Claret Jug in 2022, joining a star-studded field for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
LIV Golf star Cameron Smith will return to the scene of his Open victory as he confirmed his entry for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October.
The Australian has not played at the home of golf since overcoming Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young to win The 150th Open at St Andrews in 2022.
Smith signed up for the LIV Golf tour just a few weeks after lifting the Claret Jug, and he enjoyed success last season as he skippered Ripper GC to the Team Championship title.
The 32-year-old was not among 14 LIV Golf stars who competed in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last year, when Tyrrell Hatton won for the third time following back-to-back victories in 2016 and 2017.
But Smith is looking forward to returning to DP World Tour action in a few weeks' time.

“Winning The Open on the Old Course must be every golfer’s dream and it was a moment I will never forget," said Smith, who played in all four majors this year and failed to make the halfway cut in each of them.
"To walk up the 18th hole in the Dunhill will bring it all back and I can’t wait to play there. It would be an amazing double if I could win, but it looks like a really strong field so I will need to play my best golf.”
Smith's fellow LIV Golf pros Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Martin Kaymer and Bubba Watson are also in the field for the star-studded pro-am event, played on The Old Course, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
Ryder Cup stars Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick and Padraig Harrington are also confirmed starters for the event from October 2-5.
