Players in the field will be competing for the chance to make it to the season-ending playoffs.
Only the top 70 make it through to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, with the field further reduced to 50 for the DP World Tour Championship.
As things stand Rory McIlroy is the favourite to win a record seventh Harry Vardon trophy.
Masters champion McIlroy, 36, has a comfortable lead over England's Marco Penge in the Race to Dubai.
McIlroy is not in the field this week and won't be back in action until the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
Another green jacket winner, Adam Scott, is among the notables in the field this week.
The Genesis Championship will be played over 23-26 October at Woo Jeong Hills GC.
It features a total prize purse of $4m, with the winner walking away with a cheque for $680,000.
