Irish Open Final Round Tee Times as Shane Lowry closes in on home win at Trump Doonbeg
Shane Lowry takes a commanding lead into the final round of the Amgen Irish Open.
Shane Lowry has set up a golden chance to win a second career title at his home Irish Open.
Lowry, 39, vaulted to the top of the leaderboard after a Friday 62 and then stretched into a four-shot advantage with another brilliant 65 to move to 16-under par.
The Irishman leads Denmark's Jacob Skov Olesen, who appears the sole challenger to Lowry's title bid.
Olesen bogeyed the 18th for a 66 and 12-under par total.
Lowry, who memorably won the Irish Open as a fresh-faced amateur in 2009, is seeking a seventh career title on the DP World Tour and his first in exactly four years.
So far this week it's been a remarkable turnaround from Lowry, who arrived at the Irish Open determined to rediscover his best form after a relatively flat spell during the summer.
Lowry missed out on the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs last month and he has since slumped from 26th to 53rd in the world this season.
But the 39-year-old made his intentions clear at the start of the week, and so far he has delivered.
LIV Golf star Joaquin Niemann is in solo third on 9-under par, with Tom McKibbin and Daniel Rodrigues rounding out the top five on 7-under par.
Elsewhere, Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed is 4-under par in a tie for sixth.
LIV Golf superstar Jon Rahm slipped back to 1-under par and outside the top 30 after a 72.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy fared even worse with a lacklustre 74 and it sent him back to 2-over par in a tie for 50th.
U.S. President Donald Trump will be on site at his Doonbeg venue on Sunday, and he is expected to present the trophy to the winner of the Irish Open.
