Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood shared a heartwarming embrace on the practice range ahead of this week's BMW PGA at Wentworth.

McIlroy, 36, was seen walking over to his good pal Fleetwood, 34, to congratulate him for the first time on his FedEx Cup victory two weeks ago at East Lake.

The win marked Fleetwood's first of his career on the PGA Tour in his 164th appearance.

McIlroy was a conspicuous absentee from the celebrations as Fleetwood secured his long-awaited first victory on American soil.

The popular Englishman was congratulated by several of his European Ryder Cup teammates at the back of the 18th green at East Lake.

One of them was his good friend and fellow Englishman Justin Rose.

But reigning Masters champion Masters was already out of Atlanta by the time Fleetwood holed the winning putt.

The Northern Irishman was boarding his private jet alongside his caddie Harry Diamond.

Golf fans stunned after learning Rory McIlroy BMW PGA update

McIlroy and Diamond were heading off to watch tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz take on Reilly Opelka in the second round at the 2025 US Open.

The World No.2 is a huge fan of the sport and is routinely spotted in the stands at Flushing Meadows.

But fast forward two weeks, and McIlroy finally got to congratulate his good pal in person.

Sergio Garcia also went to watch his Spanish compatriot Alcaraz at the US Open.

In an exclusive interview with GolfMagic, Garcia told us he pulled out of last week's Irish Open after learning he had not received a pick from Luke Donald on the European Ryder Cup team.

He told GolfMagic he was not in the right mental state to compete and so wanted to spend time with his family instead to "recharge the batteries".

Garcia spent time with his wife Angela watching Alcaraz compete in his quarter-final, semi-final and final, where he went on to defeat Jannik Sinner and win his second US Open title.

Alcaraz and Garcia also played a round of golf on Wednesday.

They were joined by Garcia's Fireballs GC teammate David Puig and Alcaraz's tennis coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Alcaraz and Puig teamed up to defeat Garcia and Ferrero by the smallest of margins on the 18th green.

GolfMagic got the scoop on that too.
