LIV Golf have confirmed the signing of England's Laurie Canter ahead of the 2026 season.

England's Laurie Canter will give up a PGA Tour card in favour of a return to the PIF-backed LIV Golf.

The 36-year-old has been in fine form on the DP World Tour over the past couple of seasons, winning three times.

Those victories propelled Canter into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the very first time.

And his name was in the mix as Europe's Luke Donald mulled his captain's picks for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Canter strong 2025 season saw him finish comfortably inside the top-10 in the Race to Dubai standings and also secured his first PGA Tour card.

But he will now give up the duel membership in favour of a return to LIV Golf

Canter played in the very first LIV Golf event at Centurion Club in 2022 and racked up 20 more appearances as a reserve.

He will join Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Sam Horsfield in the Majesticks GC outfit, replacing the relegated Henrik Stenson.

"Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one," said Canter in a press release issued by LIV.

"The league's growth has been remarkable, and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.

"To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honour, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition, and identity that really resonates with me.

"I can't wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building."

It is unknown whether or not Canter was paid a signing-on fee as part of the deal. The length of his contract is also not known.

His move is great news for compatriot Dan Brown, who was the bubble boy in the Race to Dubai standings and just missed out on earning his first PGA Tour card.

Brown, 31, will now have the opportunity to play in the United States in 2026 and try and qualify for the signature events.

It will also mean there is not a repeat of the awkward situation that involved Tom McKibbin and Jordan Smith 12 months ago.

Like Canter, Mckibbin earned his playing rights in the United States, only to join Jon Rahm's LIV team for a reported $5m.

His decision came too late for Smith to be bumped up.

Smith acknowledged there was some awkward tension as a result of McKibbin's decision at the 2024 Team Cup in the Middle East.

But Smith managed do enough this season to get his card.

Canter is LIV Golf's second signing of the off-season.

France's Victor Perez, also a multiple winner on the DP World Tour, was snapped up by Martin Kaymer's Cleeks last month.

Yosuke Asaji and Scott Vincent also earned exemption for the 2026 LIV Golf season via the International Series' order of merit on the Asian Tour.

Two more players will join LIV Golf via the breakaway tour's version of qualifying school next January.

The winner and runner-up of LIV Golf Promotions, held at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida over 8-11 January, will earn golden tickets to the league.
