Axed LIV Golf pro among notables in second stage of DP World Tour Q School
Sergio Garcia's former LIV Golf teammate Luis Masaveu is among those to have entered the second stage of DP World Tour Q School in Spain next week.
Sergio Garcia's former LIV Golf teammate Luis Masaveu is among those to have entered the second stage of DP World Tour Q School.
The 22-year-old Spaniard was snapped up by the former Masters champion for the 2024 LIV season.
But he was replaced by his compatriot, Josele Luis Ballester, at the mid-way stage of the campaign.
Ballester, best known for urinating into Rae's Creek at The Masters in April, managed to secure enough points to avoid relegation despite only playing seven events.
Masaveu did not compete in the PIF-backed league after finishing dead last at LIV's stop in Andalucia in July.
LIV's 2025 season wrapped up in August, with Jon Rahm securing the individual title for the second successive year.
DP World Tour Q School has reached second stage and continues next week from 30 October to 2 November at four venues in Spain.
Competitors will play 72 holes and approximately 90 players will advance to the final stage.
Tournaments are taking place at Desert Springs Resort, Isla Canela Links, Golf Las Pinaillas and Fontanals Golf Club.
Final stage, featuring 156 competitors, will take place at Infitum Golf over 7-12 November. The gruelling process is played over six rounds and there is a cut after four.
Europe's Ryder Cup stats guru, Edoardo 'Dodo' Molinari topped the Q School leaderboard last year but is once again facing a struggle to retain his playing rights.
Masaveu isn't the only notable name in the field. England's Eddie Pepperell has confirmed his participation.
Pepperell missed out on earning his card by one shot last year. He had an eagle putt on the final hole, which would have regained his playing rights, but it lipped out.
Other notable in second stage include:
- Shubhankar Sharma
- Justin Harding
- Lucas Bjerregaard
- Martin Trainer
- George Coetzee
- Alfredo Garcia-Heredia
- Matthias Schwab
