Joy Through Tech: How Stewart Golf’s trolleys are transforming the walking golf experience
GolfMagic dives into the class-leading technology and British engineering that set Stewart Golf apart from the rest.

While it may appear at first glance that Stewart Golf is a simple manufacturer of golf trolleys, time spent with its products makes it abundantly clear that the ethos of this proudly British company actually runs far deeper.
Having honed its products over the course of two decades through constant innovation, an unwavering belief in local manufacturing and a steadfast commitment to hand-finished quality, Stewart’s range has grown into a carefully curated collection of products that, through tech and clever engineering, offer a transformative experience out on the course.
Engineering and building trolleys by hand out of its factory in Gloucestershire, Stewart remains the benchmark for luxury and technological excellence in the trolley space. Each of its key flagship models offer experiences that have reshaped the typical trolley experience out on the course.
It’s no small wonder, then, that Stewart has been named the primary Official Golf Trolley Licensee of the Open Championship through to at least 2028, debuting its first limited-edition range with the game’s greatest Major at Royal Birkdale in July - The Open Collection.

Invention, then innovation
The defining product in the Stewart family is, of course, the Q Follow, which pioneered a new sector in the market as the first trolley in golf with an automatic follow function, and has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Stewart Golf views the Q Follow trolley not just as a simple tool for convenience, but as a vessel that allows golfers the freedom to think and reset, enjoy the rhythm of the round, and find a deeper connection with the course and their playing partners.
While it would have been easy for Stewart to rest on its laurels after such an innovation, the Q Follow has rather become a canvas upon which the company has constantly sought to improve over the last decade.
Now in its eighth generation, Stewart's Follow technology, developed and refined in-house, is more accurate and efficient than ever, with the Q Follow trolleys now having a fully remote range of up to 75 yards. The Q Follow’s remote functionality also allows it to shift effortlessly between its Follow function and that of a more conventional remote-controlled trolley.
Last year, Stewart also launched a new SmartPower Battery app, allowing smartphone users to keep track of exactly how much power each round is using so they’re never caught out mid-round.
As the intuitiveness of the Q Follow has improved over the years, so too has the physical and visual experience it provides. Sleek and futuristic, the Q Follow is now available in 13 different colourways, all designed to allow you to showcase your own visual flair while blending seamlessly with the Q Follow’s futuristic silhouette.
This was augmented further with the introduction of the Q Follow Carbon, the company working with Cerakote to develop a cutting-edge, aerospace-certified ceramic for the buggy's frame that's exceptionally tough, incredibly lightweight, and takes the trolley’s visual identity to an even more futuristic space.
An integrated, non-invasive stabiliser wheel provides stability without being visually jarring to look at. Likewise, the modern Q Follow folds up into a package as compact as that of any other electric trolley, with small tweaks like an integrated carry handle the result of constant attention being paid to refining the process of setting it up and storing it.

Streamlining the walking experience
Sitting just below the Q Follow in the range is the VERTX – a remote trolley still widely regarded as the industry standard for modern design, functionality and ease of use in its category.
Operating on a plane above other remote control trolleys offered by competitors, the VERTX combines high-end British craftsmanship with the latest in remote technology, offering the convenience to help you focus your mind on the joy of being out on the course.
Responsiveness and intuitiveness are the core tenets of the VERTX offering, with Stewart envisioning an experience where the trolley not only responds to the user’s commands, but actively works to make the golfing experience as smooth as possible.
Every VERTX trolley features Active Terrain Control (ATC), a world-first technology. Powered by the trolley’s in-house CORTEX chip, ATC analyses the ground the ground in front of the trolley up to 1,000 times per second, adjusting power delivery to keep the trolley gliding smoothly over challenging terrain and varying gradients.
While so much tech in golf can end up adding more stress to your round than it solves, the VERTX does the opposite. Further innovations like regenerative braking, and Active Terrain Control take even more stress out of the user experience, allowing you to focus entirely on the enjoyment of the game.

Radically artisan
Heritage isn’t just a virtue for Stewart Golf, it’s a mindset that runs through every aspect of the production process. Every worker in the factory is acutely aware that the Stewart name printed on every trolley is representative of a true family business, and goes to the greatest lengths to ensure that every trolley is finished to these exacting standards.
While Stewart’s products shine on the course due to their innovation, the Stewart philosophy is grounded in a steadfast belief that when it comes to high-end pieces of golfing tech, local production is best. Stewart’s trolleys remain British through and through, with every new iteration of the Q Follow and VERTX models conceptualised and engineered in the company’s Gloucestershire HQ.
Furthermore, all servicing, maintenance and customer experience is carried out in the same headquarters, meaning that owning and keeping your trolley going is a far more holistic and, ultimately, human experience than that of any other brand.
Stewart, then, is more of a disruptor than it lets on – one that beats the drum relentlessly for a more considered approach in a sport where an emphasis on scale and profit has more cheap, inferior products hitting the market than ever before. And with one of its trolleys by your side, it becomes much easier to forge a connection with the course.
