Multiple major champion Phil Mickelson has confirmed Michael La Sasso will join his LIV Golf team.

The American, 21, has been a standout player at the college level over the last few years at North Carolina State University and the University of Mississippi.

Last year, he captured the NCAA Division I Men's Individual title with a score of 11-under, becoming only the second player from Ole Miss to win the championship.

The triumph saw the youngster earn an invite to the 2026 Masters, but he will now forfeit his tee time at Augusta National this April.

La Sasso, who also helped the United States to a 17-9 Walker Cup victory at Cypress Point over Great Britain & Ireland last September, has one PGA Tour appearance to his name.

He received a sponsor's invite to the Rocket Classic but missed the cut after shooting rounds of 72 and 73.

La Sasso will replace Andy Ogletree in Mickelson's HyFlyers quartet after the former U.S. Amateur champion was relegated last season.

Mickelson's other teammates are Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale.

Earlier in the month, there was speculation that Mickelson was pursuing a fellow lefty, Akshay Bhatia, but Golf Channel reported the youngster rejected a "lucrative offer" to remain on the PGA Tour.

Bhatia has since been announced as a reserve member of Tiger Woods' TGL team.

"Michael is one of the most exciting young players in the game today, bringing a competitive fire that's evident every time he tees it up," Mickelson said.

"He combines tremendous power and speed with exceptional feel for the game.

"Beyond his talent, his personality, work ethic and commitment to being a great teammate make him a terrific addition to HyFlyers GC."

La Sasso said he was excited to join, adding: "It's a rare opportunity to learn from one of the greatest players in the history of the game, and I don't take that lightly.

"LIV Golf allows me to compete at the highest level on the global stage, and I thrive in a team environment, especially one with the camaraderie and support that defines HyFyers GC.

"My focus is on learning, continuing to improve and doing everything I can to help our team succeed."

The addition of La Sasso means nearly all 14 rosters for the 2026 LIV Golf season, which begins on 4 February in Saudi Arabia, are complete.

The league are yet to announce Brooks Koepka's replacement after the American quit LIV Golf in December.

It is understood former PGA Tour member Harold Varner III will be announced as the five-time major champion's replacement before the season begins.

LIV Golf have made plenty of signings this winter but in truth have not recruited a bona fide talent since Jon Rahm in December 2023.

Belgium's Thomas Detry is the highest-ranked player in the OWGR that LIV have recruited.

Detry has joined compatriot Thomas Pieters in Dustin Johnson's 4 Aces.

Victor Perez was announced as the first player signing in November.

He was followed by England's Laurie Canter.

Australia's Elvis Smylie and South Korea's Ben An have also joined LIV Golf.
