Relegated LIV Golf pro reacts to "weird" tour win after torrid season
Denmark's Frederik Kjettrup birdied the 18th to secure his first HotelPlanner Tour victory at The Caversham.
Frederik Kjettrup ended a difficult run of form in dramatic fashion on Sunday, winning the English Trophy at The Caversham for his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title.
The Dane holed a 30-foot downhill slider at the last to card a 5-under 67 and beat Switzerland's Ronan Kleu by one shot.
The victory came after Kjettrup had missed six consecutive cuts on the HotelPlanner Tour, slipping to 800th in the Official World Golf Ranking and enduring a torrid season in the LIV Golf League.
His win in Reading, however, saw the 26-year-old climb back to 410th in the OWGR.

"I don't think it's quite settled in yet," Kjettrup told the official HotelPlanner Tour website in the immediate aftermath of victory.
"It was a weird finish, making a 30-foot slider downhill to win it by one on the last hole but it feels amazing.
"I played poorly on the front nine, to be honest.
"It was frustrating for sure, but I was proud of how I just kept doing my thing and stayed in there and eventually got back in the fight.
"I think at some point I was like two, maybe three shots out of it.
"So [I am] just proud of how I fought my way back and just played good on the back nine to clinch it."
Kjettrup, a former Cleeks GC player, is no stranger to winning, having claimed three PGA Tour Americas titles in 2024 to earn a place on the LIV Golf League for the following season.
Recruited by Martin Kaymer, he struggled during his time on the breakaway circuit, failing to record a finish better than a tie for 30th before being relegated.
Kjettrup has subsequently turned to the Asian Tour and HotelPlanner Tour to rebuild his schedule.
Sunday's victory has now moved him into the top 15 of the HotelPlanner Tour Order of Merit, putting him in contention to earn one of the DP World Tour cards available for the 2027 season.
It also earned him €46,548.40 in prize money.
