Two-time Open champion returning to LIV Golf for new event in New Orleans
LIV Golf will welcome back their former CEO and commissioner after announcing a new tournament in New Orleans for the 2026 schedule.
LIV Golf have announced a new tournament in New Orleans for their 2026 season and confirmed that Greg Norman will be involved.
The inaugural LIV Golf Louisiana will be played from 26-28 June next year at New Orleans City Park Bayou Oaks, with Norman on board to oversee the redesign and renovation of the South Course.
Norman was replaced as LIV Golf CEO and commissioner earlier this year.
The two-time Open champion will now be involved in the build-up to the new event in New Orleans, which has been scheduled for late June despite the temperatures typically peaking at around 35 degrees at that time of year.
But the expected fierce heat is no concern for Range Goats captain Bubba Watson, who attended the announcement.
“I’m from the Gulf Coast and this is part of my home," said the two-time Masters winner. “This is the first year of it, so the date can always be changed if it does come here multiple years.
“It’s going to be hot in a lot of places in the summer. I’ve grown up in the South; I know about heat. We just prepare for it.”
The LIV Golf Louisiana is the 10th tournament to be confirmed for next season, and state governor Jeff Landry is delighted to be hosting.
“This isn’t just a win for golf fans, it’s a win for all Louisianans,” said Landry. “Bringing LIV Golf to New Orleans puts our state on the global map in a bold way, while creating jobs, sparking investment, and giving our people one more reason to be proud of the place we call home.”
LIV Golf executive vice president, Ross Hallett, added: “We’re incredibly appreciative of the support and enthusiasm the state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans have shown LIV Golf so far.
“LIV Golf has always strived to put on events that blend elite golf competitions with world-class entertainment to create a lively, festival-like atmosphere. Louisiana has always had a deep understanding of how to balance music and culture with premier athletic events, so it feels like a perfect place to expand our global event schedule.”
