European Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter has revealed he struggled with an unspecified injury throughout the 2025 LIV Golf campaign.

The Majesticks co-captain struggled to find his best game throughout the entirety of the breakaway tour's third full season.

He began the penultimate event in Indianapolis in the drop zone, but went on a birdie blitz during the closing stages of the final round to extend his career with the PIF-backed league.

Poulter's escape act had dramatic implications for his teammate, though, as former Open champion Henrik Stenson got the boot

The Swede has yet to reveal what he plans to do in 2026, but it seems likely that a trimmed-down schedule on the Asian Tour's International Series beckons.

Poulter has reflected on his season with an emotional post on Instagram.

The 49-year-old revealed that he played through injury, although he did not explain what issue he was struggling with.

And he has no plans to retire any time soon.

"Reflecting back on my 26th consecutive season on Tour and this one was not easy," Poulter said.

"I had an injury that I didn't tell you guys about but we fought through it. It's had laughter, it's had tears, it's had the utmost stress.

"Most importantly I have taken some incredible strength from the people who have supported me and keep supporting me.

"You've given me the reason to keep working so hard.

"This game never ceases to amaze me time and time again. The will to win and improve won't ever stop. I love this game and I love playing in front of you guys.

"Not sure I will ever be ready to hang up the boots. The Dream continues and the Dream is real. Never let anyone get in the way of those Dreams.

"So many incredible things to look forward to for us all. Let 2026 preparations begin."

The Shark returns

Elsewhere, LIV Golf have confirmed their 2026 season will feature a new event in the schedule.

The inaugural LIV Golf Louisiana will be played on the South Course at New Orleans City Park Bayout Oaks next June.

The venue is set to renovated and re-designed by former LIV chief executive and commissioner Greg Norman.

Norman was replaced in the top this January by Scot O'Neill.

The announcement means LIV have now confirmed 10 stops for the 2026 season.

LIV will once again kick off their season under the lights in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, followed by stops in Australia, Singapore, South Africa, Mexico, the US, Span and the UK.
