The DP World Tour heads to Wentworth for its flagship event.

The BMW PGA Championship, which begins on Thursday, has a number of heavyweights in the 144-man field.

Masters champion Rory McIlroy will be the star attraction and the Northern Irishman is joined by several of his European Ryder Cup teammates.

Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, Sepp Straka, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Robert MacIntyre, Justin Rose and Tyrrell Hatton are all teeing it up.

Lowry arrives with particular momentum having stormed to victory last week in Ireland.

Elsewhere, there is a meaningful American contingent that includes Brooks Koepka and current Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed.

Koepka is playing the Rolex Series event on an invite from the tournament sponsor.

Billy Horschel is a notable absentee.

The 39-year-old has made no secret of how much he loves this tournament and has even won the BMW PGA Championship twice but is skipping the tournament this year to prioritise securing his status on the PGA Tour next year.
