The Amundi Evian Championship will crown its winner on Sunday.
South Korea's Somi Lee shot a six-under par 65 to take a one-stroke lead into moving day but it was England's Cara Gainer who played her way into contention on day three at Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains.
The 29-year-old is looking for her first major championship title. Her best ever result in one of the big five came in 2023 when she placed tied 61st at the 2023 Women's Open.
Gainer will have to fend off challenges from the aforementioned Lee, Grace Kim, Yuri Yoshida, Minjee Lee and Gabriela Ruffels.
Several other notables are within striking distance.
World No.1 Nelly Korda is too far down the leaderboard to mount a challenge.
European Solheim Cup star Charley Hull was expected to contend for her first major title this week but the golfer was forced to withdraw during the first round after she collapsed twice on the golf course.
Hull, who was struggling with a virus, has now confirmed she is okay and thanked medics who came to her aid.
As the Amundi Evian Championship is one of five majors on the LPGA schedule, there is a considerable amount of prize money up for grabs.
The total prize purse for the 2025 edition of the major is $8m, with the champion walking away with a cheque for $1.2m.
