Robert MacIntyre | -16 | 68 |
Scottie Scheffler | -12 | 67 |
Ludvig Aberg | -10 | 68 |
Sam Burns | -8 | 67 |
Harry Hall | -8 | 67 |
Robert MacIntyre holed a 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to take a four-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler into the final round of the BMW Championship at Caves Valley in Maryland.
MacIntyre, 29, carded a 68 to progress to 16-under par, four shots ahead of World No.1 Scheffler, who fared one better with a 67.
The Scot is seeking a third PGA Tour title and his first of the season, while Scheffler is going in search of the 18th of his career and fifth of 2025.
MacIntyre is also looking to become the only Scotsman to win a FedEx Playoffs event.
After a sloppy start with a bogey at the 1st, MacIntyre recovered the shot at the 4th.
He then added birdies at the 9th and 18th, the latter a birdie bomb that extended his lead from three to four heading into the final round.
"It was tough, a tough start, but I know if I do my job well these guys have got to do really well to catch me," said a confident MacIntyre.
"It was a struggle early on but it's not the size of the dog in the fight it's the size of the fight in the dog and I've got all the fight, even when I'm in trouble I'm in there and thinking how do I get this thing in there in the least amount of shots, I just work away.
"To get that one on 18 was a big bonus."
Exclamation on 18!

MacIntyre made an incredible par save from the trees on the short par-4 5th.
"I thought I took the gamble, probably should have hit 3-wood and turned it the other way, but overcut it, to get out of there with par was a big effort but I made a lot of good saves out there."

A moment of controversy arose on the 14th green when MacIntyre holed a seven-footer for par before hushing an unruly fan in the gallery.
"Yeah, look from the get go, in America and playing against their sweetheart, I get on well with him, great guy, unbelievable player, but I expected it today and I expect it again tomorrow.
"If you give me crap, I'll give you crap back, I'm not scared of that. I'm inside the ropes, got security around me and I'm safe."

Sweden's Ludvig Aberg also holed a lengthy birdie putt on 18 to card a 68 and remain in solo third on 10-under par.
Sam Burns and Harry Hall round out the top five on 8-under par after rounds of 67.
Both Burns and Hall are looking to pick up captain's picks on their respective Ryder Cup teams.

The BMW Championship marks the second FedEx Playoffs event.
The top 30 in the FedEx standings after the final round of the BMW Championship will advance to next week's season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake.
There is no longer an adjusted handicap start at the Tour Championship, and all the points will reset so the winner of the tournament wins the FedEx Cup.
All 30 players who qualify for the Tour Championship earn two-year exemptions on the PGA Tour.
