GolfMagic's betting tips for this week's Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick are once again provided by GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts.

After landing three winners before the summer at odds of 35/1, 22/1 and 12/1, Andy is looking to get back into the black following a tough June spell.

Andy is aiming to bounce back at the final event before the year's last major, The Open, and is keeping things simple this week with two outright selections.

The 156-man Genesis Scottish Open is a co-sanctioned tournament on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, and it boasts another world-class field with World No.1 Scottie Scheffler and World No.2 Rory McIlroy leading the charge at The Renaissance Club.

Joining them in North Berwick are a host of elite names, including Wyndham Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Aaron Rai, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun and Justin Thomas.

Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Åberg are also in action, while LIV Golf stars Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton add further quality to an already stacked line-up.

Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka will also tee it up after receiving a sponsor's invitation.

Defending champion Chris Gotterup returns to Scotland looking to retain the title he won 12 months ago after edging out McIlroy in a dramatic finish.

The American arrives in excellent form after winning last week's John Deere Classic, making him one of the most intriguing names in the field.

Gotterup collected $1.575 million for his victory last year, and the winner of this week's Genesis Scottish Open is expected to receive the same first prize from the tournament's $9 million purse.

Genesis Scottish Open 2026: Expert Picks

Scottie Scheffler

Pick 1 - Scottie Scheffler

Best odds: 6/1

It might feel strange seeing Scottie Scheffler available at 6/1 in any event, but that price is a reflection of just how competitive this week's Genesis Scottish Open field is.

Even so, it is a price that immediately caught my attention.

Scheffler remains without a victory since winning The American Express in his first start of the season back in January, but anyone watching his performances closely knows he has been knocking on the door for some time.

This is not quite peak Scheffler. The putter has cooled at crucial moments and has cost him several opportunities down the closing stretch, but his all-around game remains arguably the best in world golf.

The numbers back that up. Scheffler currently ranks first on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Total (2.249) and first in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (1.737), proving the foundations of his game remain exceptional.

The putting has been the frustrating part, but even there things are not as bad as they may appear. Scheffler still ranks 12th in Strokes Gained: Putting this season.

The issue is not that he is playing poorly — far from it. He has simply been unable to finish tournaments in the way he expects from himself, reflected none better than falling short to Viktor Hovland in last Monday's playoff at the Travelers Championship.

Since his last victory, Scheffler has recorded an incredible eight top-five finishes, highlighting the remarkable consistency that has kept him comfortably clear as the world's best player.

A 21st PGA Tour victory feels inevitable, and I believe The Renaissance Club could be the venue where it arrives.

He's even rocked up at the Scottish Open with a fresh skin fade, just to prove he well and truly means business this week:

Scheffler has an excellent record at the Genesis Scottish Open, finishing inside the top 12 in three of his four appearances.

His best result came in 2023 when he finished third, while he added another strong performance last season with an eighth-place finish.

Across 14 rounds at The Renaissance Club, Scheffler owns a scoring average of 68.36, one of the strongest records in the field. Only Rory McIlroy has a better scoring average at this venue, with the Northern Irishman averaging 67.07 across the same number of rounds.

Scheffler also arrives in Scotland in outstanding form despite not adding another trophy to his collection.

The four-time major champion has recorded six top-four finishes in his last eight PGA Tour starts and eight consecutive top-14 finishes, which perfectly demonstrates the consistency that makes him such a formidable opponent.

The frustration is likely building, though. Scheffler sets incredibly high standards and knows this season has not delivered enough victories by his own expectations.

A win this week would be the perfect preparation for his Open Championship title defence and a timely reminder that the world's best player remains capable of dominating any tournament.

The field is stacked, but 6/1 on Scheffler could look enormous value come Sunday evening if he finally puts everything together.

For me, Scheffler's biggest advantage is that he combines the highest level of ball-striking with an incredible ability to keep himself in contention every single week.

The only question mark remains whether the putter can become an asset rather than a frustration.

Wyndham Clark
Wyndham Clark

Pick 2 - Wyndham Clark

Best odds: 33/1

Wyndham Clark is without doubt playing the best golf of his career right now.

Fresh from becoming a two-time U.S. Open champion at Shinnecock Hills last month, Clark immediately backed up that victory with another outstanding performance, finishing tied fifth at the Travelers Championship the following week.

He then took last week off to recover and prepare for Scotland, meaning he arrives at The Renaissance Club refreshed and full of confidence.

Clark may not currently sit as high in the world rankings as he did during his previous peak, but his recent performances have seen him surge back into the world's top 10 at No.8.

Based on his current form, there is every reason to believe he can climb even higher before the end of the season.

One of the biggest improvements has come with his putting.

Clark has transformed his game on the greens
Clark has transformed his game on the greens

After switching to a new PING putter, Clark has looked transformed on the greens, and the results have followed.

He has won twice in his last five PGA Tour starts and has not finished worse than tied 11th during that run.

Even more impressively, he has finished inside the top five in four of those five events.

Few players in world golf can match Clark's current momentum.

Clark also has a strong record at this week's venue.

He has played the Genesis Scottish Open in each of the last four years and has never finished worse than tied 25th, recording finishes of 16th, 25th, 10th and 11th.

Across those 16 rounds, Clark owns an impressive scoring average of 68.31, putting him among the best performers in this week's field.

That combination of current form and course history makes him extremely appealing at 33/1.

For those looking for an each-way option, Clark could be one of the standout bets of the week.

Many bookmakers are offering 1/5 odds for the first five places, while some are extending their place terms to the top 10 at slightly shorter prices.

Clark's biggest strength is the confidence he is carrying into Scotland.

He has proven he can win the biggest tournaments in golf and now appears to have found a level of consistency that was missing earlier in his career.

The only concern is that he does not always produce the same level of performance over a prolonged period, meaning there is slightly more risk involved compared to someone like Scheffler.

However, at 33/1, the reward outweighs the risk, especially given his excellent course record and current form.

Final thoughts

This week's Genesis Scottish Open features one of the strongest fields of the season, making it a difficult tournament to predict.

Scheffler stands out as the player most likely to turn his outstanding performances into another victory, while Clark offers excellent value at a much bigger price thanks to his remarkable recent form and strong record at The Renaissance Club.

Good luck if you're having a play on the Scottish Open, but as always, please gamble responsibly.
