Justin Rose could not hide his delight as his European Ryder Cup teammate Tommy Fleetwood lifted his first PGA Tour title at East Lake.
Justin Rose could not hide his delight as his European Ryder Cup teammate Tommy Fleetwood finally entered the winner's circle for the first time on the PGA Tour.
Fleetwood held his nerve during the final round of the Tour Championship at East Lake to secure a $10m payday.
The 34-year-old withstood pressure from Americans Patrick Cantlay, Russell Henley and world number one Scottie Scheffler.
Emotion poured out of Fleetwood on the 72nd hole as he tapped in to secure a three-shot victory at the 164th attempt in the United States.
Fleetwood has had several painful defeats this season, chief of which was the Travelers Championship in Connecticut and the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.
On both occasions, Fleetwood held or shared the 54-hole lead.
Rose, got the better of Fleetwood in Memphis but was over the moon at witnessing his pal's big moment.
The 45-year-old veteran was greenside to film Fleetwood's final putt and celebrations on his phone.

"I've had a great attitude through it all"
Fleetwood was overcome with emotion after the final putt dropped.
He hugged his stepson and embraced his wife Clare on the green.
The golfer was asked what he did differently compared to previous occasions.
"I feel like I've had a great attitude throughout it all," he said. "I think I'm proud of what I've done before.
"Whether I've won or not, I've still been proud of my career so far, knowing that I still have a long way to go and lots of learning.
"This doesn't change that really. This is hopefully just one win, the first of many to come. You cannot win plenty if you don't win the first one.
"I'm just happy that I got it done and happy with my work ethic, and I'll continue to try and get better and try to be the best I can be."
Fleetwood said he feels fortunate to receive a huge amount of support every week.
"I said this last month or so when I've been in contention, it's been amazing, and to get the support like that is just so special, and I never want to lose that," he said.
"I hope everybody knows how grateful I am for it, and I said we'll do it together, and I felt like we did today. So I'm really grateful for everybody that supported me and supported me through this."
