Justin Thomas nearly wipes out course marshal with his driver during Travelers Championship
Justin Thomas' driver flew out of his hands and nearly into a course marshal at the side of the 13th tee during the third round of the Travelers Championship.
Justin Thomas' driver nearly wiped out a course marshal on the 13th tee during the third round of the $20m Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour.
Thomas, 32, endured a Saturday to forget with a dismal 3-over 73 at TPC River Highlands.
The two-time PGA champion started the third round in a share of the lead and he ended it 10 shots behind Tommy Fleetwood.
Thomas was level par for his round when he boarded the par-5 13th, one of the easiest holes on the course.
But things unravelled quickly for JT, who flung his driver out of his hands as he tugged his tee shot onto the train tracks.
As Thomas' ball sailed left and out of bounds, he immediately looked over to his left as his driver nearly clattered into the course marshal.
To the American's credit, he immediately apologised to the marshal.

The incident marked the second in the space of a month when a flying driver had nearly wiped out a marshal.
Wyndham Clark's effort on the 16th during the final round of the US PGA was much more aggressive.
That came a month before his wild locker room outburst at the US Open.
Thomas had to play three from the tee and he would go on to record a shocking quadruple-bogey nine after making a complete mess of things by the green (see video below).
He would recover a shot on the short par-4 14th but the damage had been done as Thomas finished the day in a tie for 14th and out of contention for a second PGA Tour title this season.
Justin Thomas…. One of us!
