PGA Tour hits back after Sydney Sweeney admits golf is her "least favourite sport to watch"
PGA Tour fans should probably not expect American actress Sydney Sweeney to rock up at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am anytime soon.

The PGA Tour isn’t exactly doing cartwheels over Sydney Sweeney’s latest sporting confession. In fact, you could almost hear a collective groan ripple across Ponte Vedra when the Hollywood star declared that golf is her “least favorite sport” to watch.
And let’s be honest — Tiger Woods probably won’t be thrilled either.
In a new Sports Illustrated interview, Sweeney was asked to list her favourite sports.
Her answer was swift: UFC or NHL take the crown.
Golf? Not even close. The actress made it crystal clear she’s not a fan of golf, placing the sport firmly at the bottom of her watch list.
The PGA Tour wasted no time firing back. Its social media team responded with a tongue-in-cheek meme using a photo of Sweeney looking disappointed — an unmistakable nod to the Tour’s own reaction to her dig.
A light jab, sure, but one that made it clear they weren’t impressed.

Sweeney, 28, has been riding a career high over the past few years, gaining early recognition for roles in Everything Sucks!, The Handmaid's Tale, and Sharp Objects before breaking through with Euphoria and The White Lotus, earning Primetime Emmy nominations along the way.
Her latest spotlight moment comes courtesy of Sports Illustrated, where she appears on the December cover alongside Hall of Fame boxer Christy Martin.
The timing follows the release of Christy, the biopic centred on Martin’s career.
While the film didn’t rake in huge box-office numbers, Sweeney herself earned glowing praise—despite suffering a concussion on set.
Filming clearly left its mark on her.
“I don’t usually write a lot in my captions but this movie and experience I feel needs more than just a few words,” Sweeney wrote on Instagram.
“We have wrapped filming Christy Martin’s story and it has been one of the most emotional, transformative experiences of my life. Christy’s journey is so deeply inspiring, and having her by my side during this process was nothing short of surreal. There were moments on set where I’d glance over at her standing by the monitors, cheering us on, and I’d just become so emotional. Knowing what she’s endured, what she’s pushed through to be there in that moment—it made me want to cry.”
Her Sports Illustrated interview covered all of that — before veering into the now-infamous question about sports.
And that’s when golf found itself on the receiving end of the snub heard around the PGA Tour.
This isn’t the first time Sweeney has stirred online chatter. She was at the centre of a controversy surrounding her American Eagle “great jeans” campaign — a storm that eventually blew over but got unpleasant before it did.
Yet through it all, she’s remained unfazed, hopping around the globe and popping up at major events like the NASCAR Cup Series Championship.
But judging by her blunt remarks on golf, the PGA Tour and Tiger Woods probably shouldn’t bank on Sydney Sweeney rocking up to any of their pro-ams in the future.
