PGA Tour winner issues apology after tearing into CBS's coverage of The Masters
PGA Tour winner Kevin Kisner has admitted he "crossed the line" with criticism of CBS's coverage of the 2026 Masters.
PGA Tour winner Kevin Kisner has issued a belated apology after criticising CBS's coverage of the 2026 Masters.
Kisner, who now works as an analyst for NBC, went in hard on CBS 24 hours after Rory McIlroy defended his green jacket.
Chief of Kisner's complaints was the lack of live action and the fact cameras lost track of McIlroy's second shot into the 18th green.
"I was so f------ confused the entire time," Kisner told the Fore Play podcast, adding that it was "so bad" he text his buddy Colt Knost, who works for CBS, to say he was better off following the official Masters app than their feed.
But Kisner has now issued an apology to Knost and CBS, explaining that he crossed the line after his comments caused a stir on social media.
"It's been an interesting few days, but it is what it is, and I just have to apologise to the golf team at CBS," he said.
"I crossed the line, probably, too much, by talking about that whole content.
"I know from my short time in the business how wild production is."
He added: "It is a very difficult thing to produce a live show and make it all work and everybody does their best
"NBC screws up all the time, and we're just trying to do our best.
"I went too far in being critical on them, and I just want all the people associated with it to know I apologise."
Kisner joined NBC in January 2024. He was named as the network's lead golf analyst in December that year after Paul Azinger left.
What did Kevin Kisner say about CBS's coverage?
"I was so f—ing confused the entire time by trying to keep up with the behind-the-scenes CBS feed," Kisner previously said.
"They're literally showing s—t that I knew happened ten minutes ago all day long.
"It was so bad that I in fact text Colt Knost during the show and said, ‘do you all ever show a live shot?’ I'm better off following the f—ing app than following your feed."
He added: "Could you imagine watching the f—ing Super Bowl and being like, 'yea Tom Brady threw that touchdown seven minutes ago, we're going to act like it’s live here so our announcers can sound really smart and we’re going to sit here and he's going to throw it wide open down the middle but it actually happened seven minutes ago and everyone in the stadium's taking a p—.
"What are we doing, man?"
Jim Nantz admits CBS bungled Masters coverage
Jim Nantz admitted on a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show that CBS's coverage of the 2026 Masters was far from perfect.
The legendary broadcaster admitted the moment McIlroy tapped in his final putt could have been better.
"It's live television," Nantz said. "We all make mistakes."
He added: "I'm really proud of our crew. You're making so many split-second decisions.
"I can't speak to the difficulty and some of the decision-making, and some of the other things that people are responsible for.
"I just know that our crew is the best in the business."
