Four PGA Tour players withdraw before start of 3M Open

Quartet of players pull out of the 3M Open, the penultimate event of the regular PGA Tour season.

Four players have withdrawn on the eve of the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota.

The 3M Open is the penultimate event of the regular PGA Tour season before the the circuit begins the FedEx Cup Playoffs. 

The PGA Tour has confirmed a trio of internationals and an American have pulled out of the tournament. 

Germany's Stephan Jaeger, Japan's Rikuya Hoshino, Argentina's Alejandro Tosti and America's Anders Albertson have all withdrawn from the 3M Open. 

No official reasons have been given for their WDs. 

As a result of their absence, it means four players receive last-minute invites into the event.

Those invites have gone to American quartet Taylor Montgomery, Max Herendeen (a), Ben Martin and Zac Blair. 

Jhonattan Vegas is looking to become the first player to successfully defend the 3M Open this week.

Sam Burns is the tournament favourite, narrowly ahead of in-form Chris Gotterup, who enters off the back of winning the Genesis Scottish Open and finishing third at The Open.

Other players towards the top of the betting market include Maverik McNealy, Wyndham Clark, Max Greyserman, Michael Thorbjornsen and Jake Knapp.

The total prize purse at the 3M Open is $8.4m.

The winner takes home $1.5m.
