Valero Texas Open Betting Tips: Expert picks for the win at TPC San Antonio

Check out two confident win selections from GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts at this week's Valero Texas Open.

GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts heads into this week’s Valero Texas Open looking to reignite what has been an outstanding run of PGA Tour form.

Although last week’s main selection Min Woo Lee (14/1) fell just short of victory at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, his top-three finish still extended an impressive streak. Andy has now tipped a player to finish inside the top five for four straight weeks, underlining just how sharp his selections have been.

That run also includes two winners, with Cameron Young landing at 35/1 at The Players Championship and Matt Fitzpatrick following up at 22/1 at the Valspar Championship.

Now the focus shifts to the Texas Open at TPC San Antonio, where Andy is backing two outright selections to deliver again just a week before The Masters at famed Augusta National.

The tournament takes place on the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio, a par-72 layout measuring 7,438 yards, and it's typically one of the more demanding tests on the PGA Tour

It's not the strongest field of the season by any stretch, but it still boasts three of the world's top 10 with Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa and Russell Henley.

Designed by two-time Open champion and former LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman, the course has hosted the Texas Open since 2010 and it rewards precision over power.

While the fairways are relatively generous, the layout winds through thick oak trees, making accuracy off the tee essential.

Played on Bermuda fairways with overseeded greens running at around 11 on the Stimpmeter, this is a layout that places a premium on great iron play and putting.

Right, let's dive in...

Valero Texas Open Betting Tips

Ludvig Aberg
Ludvig Aberg

Pick 1: Ludvig Aberg - 20/1

Ludvig Aberg arrives in Texas with a point to prove after letting a big opportunity slip three weeks ago at The Players Championship. A couple of loose swings early on the back nine that Sunday cost him a golden chance of victory, but his overall performance still underlined how strong his game currently is.

A tie for fifth at TPC Sawgrass followed an equally impressive tied third at Bay Hill, confirming he is trending firmly in the right direction. Earlier in the season, illness disrupted his rhythm and led to a withdrawal and a missed cut, but he now looks much more like the player who has quickly established himself among the world’s elite.

Statistically, Aberg sits comfortably inside the top 15 for strokes gained total on the PGA Tour, which reflects the strength of his all-round game.

Taking the last two weeks off since The Players could also prove key, allowing him time to reset and return refreshed.

The Swede's record at TPC San Antonio is mixed, with missed cuts in 2022 and 2025 alongside a solid tie for 14th in 2024. However, those results are easy to overlook given his current form, and when he is playing well, he has the tools to contend on any course.

In a field that lacks some depth, at least compared to the recent Players and Arnold Palmer, Aberg stands out as one of the class acts. If he produces anything close to his recent level, he has a huge chance of landing a third PGA Tour title.

At best odds available of 20/1, Aberg looks standout value and I can see him shortening before the off on Thursday.

Russell Henley

Pick 2: Russell Henley - 20/1

Russell Henley is another player who arrives in Texas in encouraging form and looks ready to make a strong push for victory.

The American finished tied sixth while defending his title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational four weeks ago before following that with a tie for 13th at The Players Championship. Those results build on a solid start to the season that already included three top-20 finishes in his opening four events.

There is a sense that Henley needed time to recover from a disappointing Ryder Cup debut in September, which appeared to halt his momentum after reaching a career-high ranking of third in the world. However, his recent performances suggest he is firmly back on track.

His history at TPC San Antonio mirrors Aberg’s in terms of inconsistency, with earlier missed cuts and a modest finish, but a standout solo fourth here in 2024 shows just how well his game can translate to this course.

It should also be noted that Henley is driving it incredibly accurate so far this season, which is key for TPC San Antonio. The American ranks fifth for fairways found so far in 2026, so that's another positive for him this week. He's also 12th in the strokes-gained total statistic, suggesting his overall game is right where he wants it heading into major season.

Like Aberg, Henley has taken the last two weeks off, and that break could leave him perfectly prepared for a big week. With The Masters on home Georgia turf looming,  the Texas Open at TPC San Antonio is an ideal chance for him to build confidence and potentially secure a sixth PGA Tour title.

Given his consistency on Tour and current trajectory, Henley looks a very strong option at best odds of 20/1. Simiarly to Aberg, I can his odds tumbling before Thursday's first round.

As always, please gamble responsibly, and best of luck with your selections.
