Robby Shelton holed out for an incredible albatross on the 14th hole at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort during the final round of the Valspar Championship

With a hybrid in hand and 258 yards stood between himself and the hole, Shelton let rip and hit what has to be one of the best shots of his career.

The ball pitched on the green before taking three small hops, popping up to hit the pin, then dropping dead centre.

The albatross was the highlight of an otherwise forgettable one-over round that featured five bogeys and a single birdie.

Saving him three shots, the miraculous shot will have likely vaulted him close to 20 spots up the leaderboard by the time play finishes later today.

That could equate to roughly $20,000 in prize money.

In carding the biggest bird in golf, Shelton has become only the 139th PGA Tour player to do so since 1983

Shelton's albatross is the third to be made on the PGA Tour this season, with both Jake Knapp and Shane Lowry having also achieved the feat.

Speaking about the shot after his round, Shelton said:

"It was a perfect hybrid. My caddie Matt, he was like, 'It's just a perfect club.' We finally got to go for it for the first time all week. I hit a great shot, honestly; it was right where I wanted to hit it. Didn't think it would go in, but it was a nice, nice 2 to help the scorecard."

Even rarer than a hole-in-one, the odds of making an albatross are roughly six million to one

Shelton finished the week 2-under.
