Ryder Cup chiefs have fired a warning shot at Donald Trump ahead of his highly anticipated appearance at Bethpage Black – insisting there will be no delays, no matter what chaos follows him through the gates.

The United States President, who is an avid golfer and fan, has confirmed a scheduled appearance for the first day's play of the Ryder Cup on Friday 26 September.

But while single-figure handicapper Trump, 79, is eager to return to his home state of New York to watch the action, organisers are determined not to let his presence disrupt the biggest week in golf.

Trump grew up in Jamaica Estates, an affluent neighborhood in Queens, New York City.

Earlier this month, Trump’s visit to the US Open men’s tennis final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner caused a stir when extra security measures delayed the start of play by 30 minutes.

It was a scene Bethpage bosses are desperate to avoid.

Tournament director Bryan Karns has made it crystal clear that golf will come first – Trump or no Trump.

"We actually won’t be able to delay the tee times because we don’t have the evening," Karns told Front Office Sports

"At Arthur Ashe Stadium, you can flip the lights on and go late. We don’t have that luxury. We need to finish both sessions in daylight so fans get the full experience."

That means, even if the President's arrival turns Bethpage into a security circus, play will march on.

Friday's opening match at the Ryder Cup will tee off at 7.10am local time.

Trump, however, hasn’t just been in the spotlight off the course – he’s stirred up controversy over the American team too.

Despite taking the reins as captain, Keegan Bradley left himself out of the 12-man line-up, instead naming Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Ben Griffin, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Cameron Young as his captain’s picks earlier this month.

The sextet join automatic qualifiers Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau on the team.

A week before the six captain's picks were revealed, Trump urged Bradley to pick himself.

It was also in that particular post from Trump that he confirmed he would be in attendance for the first day of the Ryder Cup.

"Keegan Bradley should DEFINITELY be on the American Ryder Cup Team – As Captain!!! He is an AMAZING guy," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"It will be a great Ryder Cup. At the invite of the PGA Tour, I will be there on Tournament Friday!!!"

With a controversial team selection, a fiery New York crowd, and Trump’s arrival guaranteed to draw headlines, Bethpage is braced for a Ryder Cup like no other.

Earlier this week, Trump attended the State Banquet at Windsor Castle where he was joined by golf legend Sir Nick Faldo and LPGA superstar Charley Hull.

Hull then confirmed in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live that Trump wants to organise a round of golf with her before the end of the year.
