Tiger Woods has reportedly banned himself from having sex in order to best prepare for The Masters next week, a close friend of his has told New York Post.

Woods, 48, is allegedly a single man as he enters the season's first major at Augusta.

The 15-time major champion went through something of a messy split with former girlfriend Erica Herman.

Herman, 38, initially claimed Woods had pursued a sexual relationship with her while she was a waitress working at his restaurant in Jupiter, Florida, and that he made her sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) or else she would not have kept her job.

She then filed an official notice to dismiss her appeal to nullify the NDA she signed when they first started dating in 2017.

In November 2023, it was confirmed Herman had officially dropped her sexual assault and NDA appeal against Woods.

Woods was last month seen alongside his former wife Elin Nordegren as they celebrated their son Charlie Woods' latest golf accolade.

Nordegren and Woods also share a daughter, Samantha.

Fast forward to April 2024, and Woods is getting set to make his first start since the Genesis Invitational in mid-February 2024.

Woods was forced to withdraw from the Genesis during the second round, not through ankle or back injury but due to illness.

That came in the same week Woods launched his new Sun Day Red clothing and footwear line following his split from Nike.

Woods will attempt to join Jack Nicklaus for six wins at The Masters.

He last slipped on the green jacket in 2019.

Last year Woods was forced to withdraw during the third round of The Masters, and he then underwent ankle surgery before recovering on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

In a bid to give himself the best possible chance of creating Masters history next week, a friend of Woods has told New York Post he is imposing a sex ban in order to conserve energy and maintain focus before Augusta.

Woods' friend told New York Post

"He’s focused. He’s working really hard in the gym. He’s eating right. He’s even eliminated sex.

"He does that now when he’s preparing: no sex until the tournament is over. He doesn’t want anything to take away his focus.

"The Masters is Tiger’s must-play event every year.

"He’s working very hard, spending hours in the gym, practicing, taking care of himself. He wants to play, and he always plays to win."

Woods reportedly played a practice round at Augusta last weekend with Justin Thomas and Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley.

A week before that, Woods played golf with Saudi PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan as he attempts to help the PGA Tour thrash out a deal.

The bookmakers most certainly don't fear a shock Woods win at The Masters next week.

Woods, who is ranked 950th in the world as it stands, has been priced up at odds of 125/1
