U.S. Open field 2026: Who is playing at Shinnecock Hills?
U.S. Open field 2026: Take a look at the field for the third men's major of the year at Shinnecock Hills.
The field for the third men's major of the year is almost complete.
The very best players in the world will head to Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York, over 18-21 June for the 2026 U.S. Open.
Last time out, America's J.J. Spaun won the gold medal with an electric finish at Oakmont to secure his first major title and deny Scotland's Robert MacIntyre.
The American, then 34, birdied his final two holes to win by two shots.
He only needed a par on the 72nd hole to win by one but capped off the victory in style, holing a 64-foot birdie putt to spark wild scenes.
The U.S. Open is known as the hardest major title to win and for that reason the bookmakers are making runaway world number Scottie Scheffler the pre-tournament favourite, followed by Rory McIlroy.
Scheffler was utterly dominant last season and although he only has one PGA Tour victory to his name in 2026 he has still racked up six top five finishes.
The 29-year-old American is making his first attempt at completing the career grand slam having secured the third leg at last year's Open at Royal Portrush.
McIlroy, 37, won the first major of the season at the 2026 Masters.
The Northern Irishman became only the fourth golfer in history to successfully defend the green jacket.
Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Sir Nick Faldo are the others to have achieved the feat.
England's Aaron Rai won the second major of the year, the PGA Championship, on 17 May at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
Eslewhere, there are plenty of other big names who will believe they are capable of winning the U.S. Open.
There are several LIV Golf recruits in the field and the breakaway tour's charge will be led by Jon Rahm.
Rahm, who won the 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, finished runner up to Rai at last month's PGA Championship.
Bryson DeChambeau is looking to land his third U.S. Open title but has been dreadful in the majors this season, missing cuts at the Masters and PGA Championship.
Elaewhere, the likes of Cameron Young, Ludvig Aberg, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Brooks Koepka will also believe they can win the 2026 U.S. Open.
The 2026 U.S. Open field will also have 62 qualifiers teeing it up.
Golf's longest day took place on 8 June and several notables made it through.
Check out the 2026 U.S. Open field below.
The field will be finalised at the conclusion of this week's RBC Canadian Open.
