Donald Trump's latest Scottish golf course has opened. Here's what you need to know
Opened by the POTUS today, the New Course in Menie promises to complete 'the greatest 36 holes in golf'.

President Donald Trump has been up to a lot since touching down on Scottish soil 48 hours ago. He's signed a new trade deal with the EU, had a summit with British PM Sir Keir Starmer, and somehow managed to squeeze a round in at his famed Turnberry course on the side.
But it's what Trump did early this morning that has piqued our interest at GolfMagic the most. Arriving at the Trump International resort in Aberdeenshire, the POTUS took the ceremonial opening tee shot on a brand new course that takes his footprint in the country to four Championship-level courses.

The New Course in Menie is the second course to open as part of Trump International's Aberdeenshire operation, and forms the sister links to the famed Old Course—host of this year's DP World Tour Scottish Championship. Construction began in 2023 when Trump and his son Eric broke ground on the site, with the intention of Trump International to be a setting capable of hosting The Open.
That hasn't yet transpired, and indeed the subject of Trump Turnberry's Ailsa links one day hosting the open is the matter of much contention. But there's no doubt the addition of the New Course makes the President's Scottish golf portfolio truly unmatched.
“This has been an unbelievable development,” the President said before the ceremonial opening, with son Eric earlier labelling the new links "a masterpiece".
The New Course promises to complete what Trump's own website calls 'the greatest 36 holes in golf'. In typical Trumpian bluster, it also claims the New Course is 'set to redefine the modern game of golf', whatever that may mean.
Much like the Old Course, the New Course is designed as a true links test, stretching over hundreds of acres of Aberdeenshire coastline and following the natural undulations of the area's dunes—with the menacing North Sea framing the whole journey. It also boasts what Trump International claims is the world's largest natural bunker.

Already, the New Course claimed its first victim—Trump himself, who after splitting the fairway on the first drive ever hit on the course, fell victim to its sand traps on the very next shot.
