Richie Ramsay reminded every golf fan and every player of how special it is to win a professional golf tournament with his passionate celebration at the Cazoo Classic.
Entering the week on Merseyside, the 39-year-old hadn't won on the DP World Tour since 2015 and he squandered a great opportunity to end this drought at the Betfred British Masters in May.
Frenchman Julien Guerrier led for much of the final round at Hillside, but he made bogeys on the 13th, 15th and 17th holes to fall back to 12-under-par in pursuit of his first win on the European circuit.
Ramsay rose to the occasion with birdies on the 14th, 15th and 17th holes to reach 14-under-par and he made a clutch eight-foot par putt on the final green to seal the deal.
The Scotsman revealed he guaranteed his daughter another trophy ahead of the final round and this explains the explosive emotion of his winning putt. He has risen over 150 places in the world rankings as a result of his victory.
"There's nothing better than holing a putt under the gun - when it matters, when the tournament is on the line. For me, winning is everything, it's what matters in the sport. I felt the nerves coming down the stretch but played great," Ramsay said.
