Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood respond to results of LIV Golf arbitration case

European LIV Golf players Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood have responded to Tuesday's news that the DP World Tour had won their Sports Resolutions arbitration case against LIV Golf players.

The case was over whether or not the DP World Tour was able to sanction its players for playing in competing events on other circuits without clearance by the Tour.

The DP World Tour yesterday issued a statement on the matter after news emerged in the press that LIV Golf had lost its legal battle

"I haven't heard. I haven't been a part of it. I tried to stay away from all that," Garcia said, according to the Mirror. "I can only do what I can do, and that is to play the tournaments I can play, try to play them the best way possible, and then everything else is out of my hands."

He added: "So the decisions if we can get picked or will get picked or anything like that, it's not going to come down to me. It's going to come down to my game and if the captain, Luke [Donald], thinks that I'm good enough. We'll see."

The result could mean the end of Ryder Cup hopes for LIV players like Garcia and Westwood as the DP World Tour is now able to go ahead with further fines and suspensions for its members competing in LIV tournaments without a release.

The 43-year-old Garcia has been one of the most prominent European golf stars of the past few decades and has played a crucial role in many of the Ryder Cup team's successes over the years. News of the arbitration case's results was first reported by the Times Tuesday, who also said that the official announcement of the verdict was expected Thursday.

While Garcia said he hadn't heard about the massive news ahead of this week's Masters, his fellow LIV player Westwood said he was "going to wait for the official announcement and then take stock," per the Mirror.
