Tyrrell Hatton once again proved why he is England's greatest golfer on the planet this week as he surged to a fourth Rolex Series win on the European Tour with a commanding four-stroke victory at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Hatton, 29, carded a superb final-round 66 to pull clear of overnight leader Rory McIlroy and finish the week on 18-under par and four strokes clear of Australia's Jason Scrivener, who flew home in 29 strokes to finish 14-under par.

The victory sees Hatton now equal Jon Rahm for four Rolex Series wins to go alongside his previous triumphs at the 2017 Italian Open, 2019 Turkish Airlines Open and 2020 BMW PGA Championship.

He also moves to the top of the 2021 Race to Dubai standings.

The European Tour's first event of the year also saw a re-start of Ryder Cup points, meaning Hatton has all-but assured himself of a place in Padraig Harrington's side. Hatton made his debut in the Ryder Cup at Le Golf National in 2018.

McIlroy could only muster a level-par 72 as he slumped to a solo third on 13-under par, with Rafa Cabrera-Bello back on 12-under in fourth.

Tommy Fleetwood held every chance of landing a third Abu Dhabi title in five years but he fell back into the pack on the back nine with a 1-over 73 to finish tied seventh on 10-under par.
