Titleist's Wyndham Clark showed a great deal of grit and determination to secure his first major victory and second PGA Tour title in two months, tapping in for par on the 18th hole of LA Country Club to lift the US Open trophy.

Clark, 29, set off in the final group on Sunday with a chasing pack of Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Scottie Scheffler ready to pounce on any slip ups the American might make. It was Clark however, that managed to hold his nerve on the final day, securing a one shot victory over Rory McIlroy.

Displaying impeccable composure off the tee and excellent touch on and around the greens, Clark shot a final round 70 to fend off the chasing pack in windy conditions that got the better of a number of his competitors.

Playing for only the third time at the weekend of a major, Clark trusted in his Titleist TSi3 driver and Vokey design wedges to get the job done and they didn't let him down. Clark hit 69% of greens in regulation over the week and ranked seventh for driving distance averaging a whopping 325.2 yards off the tee.

Despite having his worst day with the putter on Sunday, he finished the week ranked 3rd for average putts per green with only 1.66 putts needed to get the ball in the hole.

Ranked 32nd in the world at the start of the week, Clark has seen himself shoot up to a career low 13th in the Official World Golf Rankings, putting him in a great position to clinch a much desired Ryder Cup spot when the iconic trophy heads to Italy later this year.

Displaying elite composure on the final green, Clark made a lengthy two putt look straight forward before the emotion took over. A huge milestone in his professional career, it was also a poignant personal moment for the American as he looked to the heavens in memory of his late mother Lise, who sadly passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer in 2013.

Telling him before she passed away that she wanted him to "play big', he has used the mantra to provide inspiration ever since.

"I just felt like my mum was watching over me today... she can't be here - I miss you mum - but I just feel like I've worked so hard and dreamed about this moment for so long.”
