adidas'sTour360 20th Anniversary Edition celebrates two decades of an icon
The Three Stripes has paid homage to its most legendary golf shoe with an ultra-limited update throwing it all the way back to 2005.
2005 was a great year for golf. The rivalry between Tiger Woods and a young Phil Mickelson was in its pomp, the two winning just about award possible as well as claiming three of that year's four majors.
Meanwhile, the dawn of a new era in equipment and apparel was beginning to appear over the horizon, with the sport beginning to shed its slightly fusty image and appeal to a younger, more forward-thinking player.
Key to this was the introduction of footwear models like adidas's TOUR360: a shoe that challenged convention in a radical way at the time but has now come to be seen as one of the key blueprints for modern golf shoes as we know them today.
Built to a more athletic profile inspired as much by modern running and training shoes as it was conventional golfing fashions, the Tour360 became an instant hit on tour and has amassed a devoted following ever since. The Tour360 has been on foot for more than 100 PGA Tour victories since its introduction two decades ago, and in doing so, helped set the stage for a complete aesthetic shift in the footwear category.
To honour this heritage, adidas have today released a special edition, ultra-limited 20th anniversary take on the Tour360, creating a like-for-like replica of the shoe that kicked off the model's journey back in 2005 but updated with the brand's latest tech.
Heavy on the nostalgia factor, the new Tour360 is dressed in a sleek black, white and dark red colourway instantly evocative of the original. Small details like gunmetal eyelets, embossed anniversary stamps and replica silver logo on the back of the heel also call back to the very first Tour360 model.
While faithfully recreating the look of its predecessor, the tech in the Tech360 20th Anniversary is focused firmly on delivering cutting edge performance. A soft, comfortable Boost cushioning unit in the heel generates exceptional comfort, while the addition of LightStrike foam – derived from the brand's most advanced running shoes – in the forefoot has a more active, explosive feel to help facilitate weight transfer and the generation of ground force.

The ultra-stable platform also assists with generating clubhead and ball speeds beyond what would be thought possible with a normal spikeless golf shoe. The model's signature TORSION TUNNEL system, which bores a hole through the midsole of the shoe, works with a 360WRAP mid foot unit to keep you locked down when swinging aggressively.
Underneath all this lies a reconfigured system of seven THINTECH traction spikes, with technical secondary lugs to help keep golfers locked in for every swing.
