FlightScope's Mevo Gen2 may well reset the bar for personal launch monitors
After five years, the latest addition to the storied Mevo line is here. And it could well be a game-changer.

Personal launch monitors have always left something to be desired considering the amount you generally have to fork out for one. If you go cheap, you'll lose data and accuracy. And if you want pro-level insights, it often involves an outlay that only a tour pro can realistically afford.
Sadly, we can't all arrive at the range with our own personal TrackMan in tow. And while there are plenty of accessible technologies out there that promise to turn something as simple as an iPhone into a ball tracker, there's still a definitive need out there for a product that hits the sweet spot between power, portability and relative value.
This is where FlightScope's Mevo launch monitor entered the equation back in 2017. Priced at a little over £1,000, it promised to deliver the bulk of the insights that launch monitors three or four times its price would in a more portable package, capable of being taken to the range, the indoor practice centre or out on the course during a practice round. We remain huge fans of the Mevo, alongside its bigger brother the Mevo+, here at GolfMagic HQ.
Now, almost a decade later, the definitive next generation in the Mevo line is here. It's called the Mevo Gen2 and it promises all the out-of-the-box power the modern golfer could ever really need, wedged at a price point somewhere between the Original and the Mevo+.
“With Mevo Gen2, we set out to deliver the most powerful personal launch monitor and simulator experience at a price point unmatched in the industry,” Henri Johnson, founder and CEO of FlightScope, says in the press release. “It’s extremely accurate, packed with features and ready to go right out of the box with no subscription fees or hidden costs. We believe this product sets a new standard for value and performance in personal golf technology.”

The Gen2 builds upon the foundation laid by the original Mevo in multiple ways. It now provides driver-to-putter readouts across 18 essential ball and club data parameters, from uses Flightscope’s patented Fusion Tracking Technology, combining 3D Doppler radar and synchronized image processing for super accurate readouts of spin, club behaviour and projected ball flight both indoors and outdoors.
This data is presented in an updated visual package, with the Mevo Gen2 providing data through indoor range screens and also capable of synchronising with iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.
Where the Gen2 makes its greatest leap forward, arguably, in the variety of practice scenarios it offers to golfers. The Mevo Gen2's internal camera is now capable of recording your swing and providing comparisons via visual overlays, while the simulation offering is also beefed up via a partnership with E6 golf, which provides users package of simulated courses for free straight out of the box, including Torrey Pines, Valderrama and Kapalua.
In keeping with FlightScope's all-inclusive philosophy, the Mevo Gen2 is designed to be used as is, stripping away the need for annoying add-ons or subscriptions. The software is free to use for the lifetime of the monitor, while the monitor itself is an all-in-one package with no cables required. It has a 6-hour battery life, which is more than ample for capturing a full 18-holes or multiple practice sessions.
Priced at £1,099 ($1,199 USD) FlightScope Mevo Gen2 is available now through FlightScope's website.
