Justin Rose has officially signed with McLaren Golf, becoming the brand’s first global ambassador and marking the end of his long stint as an equipment free agent.

The 2013 U.S. Open champion will debut McLaren Golf clubs this week at the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami, signalling the brand’s competitive launch onto the global stage.

The partnership goes beyond a traditional endorsement.

Rose, 45, has also taken an equity stake in the business after spending nearly two years working closely with the company on product development.

During that time, he tested prototypes extensively and provided detailed performance feedback, playing a key role in shaping the first generation of McLaren Golf equipment.

Rose has served as an athlete advisor to the board and collaborated directly with the brand’s engineering and development teams, helping refine designs ahead of their official release.

The timing of the announcement coincides with McLaren Golf’s formal launch, which aligns with the Miami Grand Prix, bringing together the brand’s heritage in motorsport and its new venture into golf.

Rose arrives at this week's $20m Cadillac Championship in outstanding form.

He claimed victory earlier this season at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines — his 13th PGA Tour title — and recently finished inside the top three at The Masters.

Statistically, Rose has been one of the strongest performers on the PGA Tour, leading the field in Greens in Regulation while ranking among the top 10 in Strokes Gained: Approach.

A long-time associate of the McLaren brand, Rose has an established relationship with McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown and is a regular playing partner of Formula 1 driver Lando Norris.

Rose will now swap out his Miura MC-502/TC-202 combo iron set and debut a combo set of McLaren irons.

In addition to putting McLaren’s clubs into play, Rose will carry the brand’s distinctive papaya-coloured staff bag and wear its logo during competition.

“From the beginning, this has been a passion project,” Rose said.

“I’ve had the opportunity to be involved from the outset — working with the team, testing the clubs and helping shape what they’ve become.

“That level of involvement, combined with the standards McLaren brings to everything they do, made this an easy decision for me. I’m excited to put the clubs in play and watch the brand flourish.”

Currently ranked fifth in the world, Rose’s move represents one of the most significant equipment signings in recent years — and a major statement of intent from McLaren Golf as it enters the professional game.
