Rory McIlroy switches into new Nike golf shoes as toe blister saga continues
The Masters champion is debuting a new pair of spikes this week as he seeks to put #ToeGate behind him once and for all.

After a long and potentially bloody struggle, the saga of Rory McIlroy's pre-PGA Championship toe blister, otherwise known as #ToeGate, appears to be at an end.
Much has been made this week of McIlroy's struggle with a painful blister throughout this week's practice sessions at Aronimink – one that saw him walk with a noticeable limp after the weekend's Truist Championship.
While it's not known exactly why that particular pair of Nike Victory Tour 4 golf shoes – a model McIlroy has worn for years – caused such a blister this time around, the injury has prompted measures to be taken to keep McIlroy comfortable while walking around in Pennsylvania this week.
Most notably, Rory has not only switched out of his Truist Championship shoes, but into a brand new model of Nike golf shoe altogether. McIlroy will instead be playing this week in the Victory Pro 4: a more athletic shoe also worn by Nike athletes Scottie Scheffler and Chris Gotterup.
Importantly, the Victory Pro 4 fits slightly wider and longer than the Tour Victory 4, giving McIlroy the extra room he needs to avoid flaring his blister up again.

It appears McIlroy also switched into a bigger size halfway through his wednesday practice round, having complained earlier in the morning of still feeling discomfort while on the range.
We'll see just how McIlroy fares in the new shoes when he tees off at Aronimink at 13:40 GMT/09:40 EDT.
