Wilson have released what might be the best value luxury golf bag ever

I'm firmly of the belief that Wilson, perhaps more than any other heritage golf brand, is at its best when really leaning into its identity as a storied bastion of American sport.

The brand, better known these days for producing rather modern equipment ranging all the way from package sets to high-end irons, is nonetheless a century-old sporting icon, producing equipment that has graced the hallowed turf of just about every revered course, arena and stadium imaginable.

Wilson has made moves to nod to this vein of heritage in recent times, releasing some surprisingly clean apparel collections and accessories in a revamp of their offering beyond mere clubs. Now, they've gone a step further, dropping a sleek new stand bag with a thoroughly old-school aesthetic.

Appropriately named the 1914 bag after the year the company, then named Ashland Manufacturing, moved into manufacturing sporting equipment, this new stand bag is an altogether more luxurious offering than what we've come to expect from Wilson, with a rich, durable high-quality PU leather outer and a deliberately paired back, monotone aesthetic that's largely free of branding.

The bag is deliberately compact to better reflect the style of carry bags so common back in the early 20th century, while Wilson have also added a number of small details that set the 1914 apart as a more elevated option. 

A plush microfibre 4-way top divider to protects and organises clubs while keeping the overall footprint of the bag fairly small, while the legs are made from carbon fibre instead of the usual plastic.

Available now in black, navy and white, the 1914 Stand Bag retails for £289, which is on the pricey end for a piece of Wilson kit, but far cheaper than equivalent models from luxury brands like Vessel and Sun Mountain. You can grab one for yourself at the links below.
