Tiger Woods part of Ryder Cup FAMILY and recovering, says Steve Stricker
The big cat cannot even be a vice-captain at the Ryder Cup, what does this tell us about his recovery?
Steve Stricker has provided an update on Tiger Woods and whether he will play golf again.
The U.S. Ryder Cup captain is not able to select Woods as a vice-captain as he continues his recovery from rolling his car earlier this year.
Woods was in hospital for up to a month and has not spoken publicly about when he will be able to pick up a club again.
Jack Nicklaus was recently quoted as saying he still expects Woods to "slap it around again" provided he can still putt.
"He's a part of this Ryder Cup family," Stricker told Sirius XM Radio after naming his captain picks of Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Harris English, Daniel Berger and Scottie Scheffler.
He added: "He won't be able to be a captain's assistant this time around just because of his ongoing rehabilitation to try to get better and try to play golf again, and that is going well.
"He's progressing, he's doing well, things are moving in the right direction."

Woods' agent Mark Steinberg has been approached by media for a further update on the big cat after he posted pictures on his social media channels with a beaming smile while being supported by crutches.
The former World No.1 has reportedly been able to put a little bit of his bodyweight on his right foot.
Woods, a 15-time major champion, suffered broken bones in his right leg and multiple injuries to his right ankle and foot following his car crash in Los Angeles back in February.
He was allegedly speeding when his car rolled over into a grassy area.
Stricker and Woods worked together at the 2017 Presidents Cup, so no doubt the captain would have desperately wanted him to be involved.
