A LIV Golf player has revealed a fascinating exchange he had with Saudi businessman Yasir Al-Rumayyan on board his private yacht.

At this point you're likely familiar with the name, given his ties to global sport in 2023.

Al-Rumayyan is the governor of Saudi Arabia's PIF, chairman of Saudi Aramco, chairman of Newcastle United, board member at Uber and Softbank and soon-to-be chairman of the newly-formed entity between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

He is also thought to be a key person within the inner circle of the Saudi royal family, reporting directly to crown prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

We obviously have no idea to what extent Al-Rumayyan is in daily communication with MBS as he jets around the globe.

But MBS is always listening, according to a recent report by Alan Shipnuck of The Firepit

The report details what it was like behind the scenes at LIV Golf before it even began and the future of the entity.

When Phil Mickelson's infamous remarks were published, it reportedly led to absolute panic, especially given they were in deep negotiations with Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau

Al-Rumayyan's response was too reportedly give a rousing speech via a phone call that was not too dissimilar to the scene where Leonardo DiCaprio's character in The Wolf of Wall Street tells his employees he's not leaving.

"We were all high fiving," a LIV exec told the publication.

Another interesting nugget is that Al-Rumayyan's yacht he parks off-shore during the Saudi International is used as a social hub for golfers.

Reported Shipnuck:

"It's a relaxed environment that offered privacy, or so we thought," says one player who requested anonymity. "But this was interesting: somehow we started talking about Russia and just as we were getting going, H.E. nodded at one of his guys, who came over and grabbed both of his cell phones. He set them down next to a speaker and then turned up the music—it was just like in the movies, and then H.E. began speaking very candidly. He nodded toward the phones and said, 'My own people are always listening.' I pulled out my phone to hand it to him but he waved it off and laughed and said, 'Don't worry, we are not listening to you—we don't care enough!’"

Incredible!
