Phil Mickelson encouraged his followers to tune into the final round of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on Monday as Rory McIlroy looks for another DP World Tour title.

Phil Mickelson heaped praise on Rory McIlroy after the third round of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic as the six-time major champion continues to show himself more on social media.

But you have to feel there is some sort of sarcasm behind his tweet.

At least that is the consensus of many fans on social media.

"Sunday Morning Sarcasm," the popular Long Drivers account posted on Instagram after seeing Mickelson's choice of words.

After McIlroy shot a 65 to take a three-shot lead at Emirates Golf Club, Mickelson took to Twitter and tagged the Northern Irishman in a post.

"What a great -7 3rd round by @McIlroyRory in DUBAI to open up a 3-shot lead. See if he can finish it off. Watch live final-round action from the Middle East on the golf channel," he said.

The 52-year-old encouraged his followers to tune in on Golf Channel to potentially see McIlroy win for the third time in seven starts and for the 15th time in his DP World Tour career.

Since joining LIV Golf, Mickelson largely stayed away from social media but he has reemerged in recent weeks as we approach the start of the second LIV season at the end of February.

During the Farmers Insurance Open, he noticed Sam Ryder was wearing golf trousers, or joggers to some, which were short and showed his ankles. Mickelson didn't approve.

"The Tour doesn't allow shorts but does allow this week's leader to wear joggers with ankle socks? Showing 4 inches of ankle? I'm no fashion guy, never will be, but there are some things I won't ever understand," he said.

On January 20, he also tweeted European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald after he played a delicious chip at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship last week.

Golf fans have always enjoyed the 45-time PGA Tour winner's interjections on social media and perhaps now the golf world has come to terms with LIV Golf, he might come out of his shell fully on social media.

At the beginning of the week, the Saudi-backed league announced their full 14-event schedule for 2023 and they have also revealed a broadcast deal with The CW in America.

This represents significant progress for the breakaway tour that showed each of its eight events in 2022 on YouTube and the LIV website.
