While the quest for 21st century playstation games like Tiger Woods 2006 and World Tour Golf continues unabated, I was intrigued to discover that less sophisticated but equally entertaining toys, are making a comeback.

Pro Shot Golf is a timeless and enduring classic miniature golfing game that I can recall from 40 years ago and it’s great to see it making a welcome retro-return, loved and remembered by modern-day dads and grandads.

Originally released in the 1960s by Louis Marx in the United States, Pro Shot Golf was a worldwide success with a miniature Arnold Palmer figure on the end of a golf club. The modern version has a new character with pivoting upper body but still operated by a pull lever in the handle of the club.

Appropriately sponsored, the 2006 player wears adidas shoes and clothing and is provided with six interchangeable TaylorMade branded clubs. The set also includes indoor and outdoor balls, bunkers, tees, fairways and a putting green for use in ther garden or the comfort of your own home.

Object of the game is to play the miniature course, while choosing the correct club to play each shot.

Pro Shot Golf - suitable for adults accompanied by a child of at least seven years of age! – will be available from JJB Sports from April, with a recommended price of £39.99.
