Callaway Golf has stepped up its interest in the rescue club/hybrid section of the club golfer’s bag, with the introduction on March 15 of the Fusion FT-Hybrid.

Fusion technology (FT), says the Chessington-based company, is a weight-shifting science, that proved hugely influential in Big Bertha Fusion FT-3 drivers winning five of the eight major championships played on men’s and women’s Tours last year.

The new FT-Hybrid combines a stainless steel face, sole and body with a lightweight carbon composite crown, which allows engineers to increase stability and forgiveness at impact. Players can also choose draw or neutral options as their preferred ball flight.

Options will be available in five models: 1H (14 degrees), 2H (17) , 3H (20), 4H (23) and 5H (26), all but the 1H will be available in left-handed versions. The Draw bias will be available in the 2H–5H in both left and right-handed versions, while the neutral configuration will be available in the 1H–4H right-handed and the 3H left-handed.

Standard shaft is the Callaway Golf Fusion NVS 85 Hybrid from Aldila, available in light, regular and firm flexes. True Temper Uniflex is the steel option.

Suggested retail price will be £159 for graphite shaft and £139 for steel.
