Lady Classic and Americana

With greens becoming baked hard and getting faster by the day, it’s maybe time to consider a lightweight putter – possibly even a women’s version with a shorter shaft for better control.

Ian Woosnam once won the US Masters with a putter made originally for women golfers. He liked its weight and balance and proved ideal for those ultra-fast Augusta greens.

Now Ray Cook, manufacturers of specialist putters for 40 years, have introduced the Lady Classic series.

Made with a 33-inch shaft they are lighter in weight than
putters made for men though we’re not so sure about the publicity blurb that comes with them that claims the putter’s ‘cherry coloured graphics have been designed to appeal to women.’

Our experience is that the guys like to be identified with distinctive colour schemes even more than women!

Though some putters from the major manufacturers are priced over £200, the Lady Classic range is priced at £39.99 and features four different head designs including a flange mallet and classic offset hosel.

Meanwhile, the Ray Cook men’s range (35 inch shafts) has been extended with the Americana - a budget series of putters featuring a high chrome polish overall and textured roll face. Again the price is just £39.99.
