Europe 14.5 - US 13.5

Seve’s European side held a commanding five-point lead heading into the final day but it quickly descended into squeaky bum time as the Americans mounted an impressive comeback when taking four and a half points from the opening seven matches.

Langer then salvaged a 2&1 win over Brad Faxon but that was quickly erased when Jeff Maggert, Lee Janzen and Jim Furyk took the next three games.

Thankfully, Europe had Our Monty in the final match and he duly halved with Scott Hoch – conceding a 15-foot par putt on the final hole – to seal outright victory for the blue and yellow.
