Vandals dig holes in golf club green

BRIGHOUSE GOLF COURSE is the latest to be attacked by vandals after trespassers dug 20 holes into one of the perfectly manicured greens.

Les Holmes, club manager at Crow Nest Park, said the attack was a sickening blow while being told by police there was no trace of any footprints following the incident.

This summer various golf clubs have been victims of vandalism, the most notable cases were Blackwell Grange Golf Club where vandals wrote 'go to hell' on one of their greens, and at the Moss Valley Golf Club in which trespassers rode motor vehicles across the greens.

Mr Holmes said: “We all, at Crow Nest, feel that we have the best greens in the area and there has been continued praise for a number of years so this is a sickening blow to members and visitors.

“It was downright malicious damage with no reason behind it apart from mindless vandalism. We don’t get much trouble here usually, thankfully.”

The club had to pay out £500 of labour costs just to fill the holes back in.
