It looks like Eddie Pepperell and Bryson DeChambeau have made up now

Eddie Pepperell and Bryson DeChambeau would appear to have put their differences to one side on social media after the pair played together in the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday.

As soon as Pepperell realised he was playing alongside DeChambeau when the final-round draw was made official on Saturday evening, the Englishman tweeted: "Fully understand if Bryson wants to keep hitting it 40 past me tomorrow so we don’t have to chat."

However after the round, Pepperell spoke highly of DeChambeau and tweeted: "We actually got on quite well. And to his credit, he’s sped up."

DeChambeau, who is competing in the Phoenix Open this week, took two days to reply but tweeted his response earlier today: "Working on it. Thanks Eddie."

Of course one golf fan thought he would play on the 48-hour delay in a response...

Lucas Herbert went on to win the tournament in a playoff over Christiaan Bezuidenhout, but DeChambeau had a title defence within his grasp on the closing holes when sharing the lead with four holes to play, only to bogey all four of them coming home.

DeChambeau was handed a slow play warning by a European Tour official just before his collpase on the closing holes en route to a tie for eighth.

Both DeChambeau and Pepperell had a Sunday to forget with both players shooting rounds of 76. Pepperell went on to finish tied 11th.

Pepperell first fired criticism of DeChambeau back in August 2019 when calling him a "single-minded twit" on Twitter when watching the American take a total of 2 minutes and 20 seconds to take his putt from 10 feet at the Northern Trust. 

DeChambeau was also seen pacing out a 70-yard wedge shot on the 16th hole during the same round on Friday, and not only infuriated Pepperell, but also golf fans around the world including Piers Morgan who demanded DeChambeau either sped up or "quit & spare us this agony."

At the time, DeChambeau felt "attacked" by the criticism he was receiving from much of the golfing world. 

Pepperell, however, would soon apologise for his comment, and he tweeted: "I just want to sincerely apologise to Bryson for being personal and referring to him as a ‘twit’. That was unnecessary and something I shouldn’t have said."
