Vandals damage greens at a Scottish golf club using mystery substance
Musselburgh Golf Club has become the latest course to be deliberately vandalised.
Musselburgh Golf Club has become the latest victim of a crime that seems to be occurring far too often, after vandals damaged several greens using an unknown mystery substance.
The East Lothian Police are appealing for information and have asked members of the public to come forward if they have any information regarding the crime.
A spokesman said: “Between Monday 21st and Tuesday the 22nd of September 2020, significant damage has been caused to several greens at The Musselburgh Golf Club, in particular the 13th.
“This has been a deliberate act using some form of substance which has burned the surface of the greens and will require extensive work, time and cost in order to rectify.
“Anyone with any information regards this is urged to contact Police Scotland via the 101 number quoting incident 0652 of the 28th of September.”

Musselburgh Golf Club was established in 1938 and is a stunning parkland course located a few miles outside Edinburgh.

The championship course is thought of by Scottish locals as one of the best golf courses in east central Scotland and members are of course furious about the situation.
Designed by James Braid, Musselburgh Golf Club has hosted multiple amateur championships and the Scottish Professional Championship twice.
