Russell Henley romps to FOURTH PGA TOUR TITLE at World Wide Technology…

Russell Henley secured his most empathic victory yet on the PGA Tour with a four-shot win at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico.

Things were fairly straight forwards for the 33-year-old at El Camaleon Golf Club on Sunday who picked up the fourth trophy of his Tour career and his first in five years.

Henley won the Shell Houston Open in 2017 by three shots and he also stormed to victory in the 2013 Sony Open by the same margin, but he has gone one better on his third start of the new season.

The former Georgia college golfer entered the second round with a huge six-shot lead and he didn't look back. Despite making his first bogey of the week on the 5th hole, he followed this with three consecutive birdies to kill the hope of his pursuers.

He restored his six-shot lead and he played like a player with such an advantage should for the final 10 holes. He made nine pars in this stretch to calmly see out the tournament on 23-under.

Brian Harman shot his third 66 of the week to finish in outright second on 19-under, while former World No.1 Scottie Scheffler came from the clouds with a stunning 62 on Sunday to finish in tied third.

Scheffler put the Scotty Cameron Special Select Timeless Tourtype GSS Prototype putter back in his bag which proved a masterstroke as he needed only 25 putts in the last round.

Scheffler lost his place at the top of the world rankings after Rory McIlroy picked up his 23rd victory on Tour at the CJ Cup.

Joel Dahmen also carded a 65 to finish in tied third. The popular American almost made just the second-ever hole-in-one on a par-4 in Tour history in the third round on Saturday. His ball finished inches from the hole off the tee on the 17th.

But it was ultimately Henley's time to shine. With a final-round score of 1-under, he collected 500 FedEx Cup points and secured his PGA Tour future through the 2025 season.

He has also confirmed his spot in The Players Championship, The Masters, the US PGA Championship and the Sentry Tournament of Champions which is one of the select group of Elevated Events in the revamped 2023 schedule.
